Most converted vans are off-the-shelf and generally mass-produced to a set of standard specifications. What makes MVTech different is our bespoke approach to every vehicle we convert, making each unique to our clients’ needs and the reason we are regarded as one of the country’s leading custom build vehicle converters. We work closely with all brands, so where a client has a preference, we can accommodate it. By combining hand-built craftsmanship, quality interiors, and the skills to install the latest components, communications technologies, and security systems, we can always guarantee complete customer satisfaction.

What are our converted vans used for?

Our knowledgeable personnel, from creative designers to the engineering team, have a wealth of experience in specialised van conversions, having produced many types of vehicles for public services, commercial enterprises, and voluntary groups over many years.

Just a few to mention are:

Incident response vehicles

Our incident response van conversions provide first responders within all three of our emergency services with the vehicles and equipment appropriate to the needs of each type of response team. Vans vary from the smallest available to the larger dimensions of the L4 models and feature elements such as tinted side windows, workstations, visual and audible communications technology, on-board power supply, equipment storage space and, quite frequently, refreshment amenities. Some of our conversions even contain dog cages for canine operatives to travel in safety.

Mobile control and surveillance vans

Mobile control and surveillance vans have much in common with our incident response vehicles, with the major difference being the requirement for these vans to more often than not remain on-site for longer periods of time, resulting in us placing a greater emphasis on additional on-board equipment including:  Hydraulically operated telescopic communications masts, CCTV systems, roof mounted solar panels, wind-out awnings and greater welfare amenities, including chemical toilet cubicles to name but a few.

Most search and rescue operations are undertaken by dedicated voluntary groups with whom we are proud to be associated. Our conversions for these activities are remarkably close toother response vehicles with the significant difference being their need to operate off-road and often in challenging environments.  To assist and make things easier we often include upgraded suspension systems, additional external lighting, awnings and with footwear frequently damp add a Passenger Lift Solutions Versa step to the side door plus full width safety step to access the rear doors.

Product presentation and exhibition vehicles

The same thought and imagination we put into creating unique chassis-cab-based exhibition vehicles also goes into our smaller converted vans used by companies seeking to operate a cost-effective roadshow or promotional campaigns where access may be difficult or parking space is restricted. Internal layouts and designs naturally vary significantly depending on the product being promoted, which may range from heavy-duty HGV fifth wheel couplings to domestic radiators, electronic products, lighting systems and even working water pumps (all of which have been real-life projects!).

Interiors frequently include product LED illuminated display panels, worktops, presentation screens and seating and sometimes fully functional working examples of our clients’ products.

Mobile libraries

Our experience in the design and construction of large mobile libraries is appreciated by library services throughout the country, but lesser known are our smaller mobile library van conversions. These smaller mobile libraries are practical for operation in urban and rural communities and differ from most of our other van conversions in that they have a greater gross plated weight of up to 5000 kgs to enable them to maximise the number of books that can be carried.

For these conversions we install roof-mounted ventilation systems and to maximise internal space and provide wheelchair access we fit the Passenger Lift Solutions underfloor Access Lift to the rear doors.

Internally, we use decorative insulated wall panelling, our own lightweight adjustable shelving system, hardwearing heavy-duty floor coverings along with a librarian’s counter and limited seating.

Mobile offices in converted vans

Mobile van-based offices provide a cost-effective and practical solution for those who work on infrastructure projects, for utilities or within the construction industry and need to work and meet with others in remote locations, which may be completely off-grid.

These converted vans usually include bespoke furniture, including fixed seating and workstations or alternatively, modular units that can be removed to allow the mobile office to be used for other activities or cargo. Other features we can provide are AC/ Heating Climate control, soundproofing, internet, and on-board power, which can be supplied by either a built-in generator, or, more commonly these days, roof-mounted solar panels.

Community outreach conversions

There is no such thing as a standard community vehicle, with each bespoke designed to meet the requirements of individual outreach projects, which are always specific to a set locality. The projects themselves may range from mobile youth club vehicles to health awareness, individual financial and health advice, or more general community information services.

These converted vans usually based on L4H3 models provide essential outreach services to both dispersed rural communities and inner-city locations alike.

We tend to design these outreach units with flexibility in mind so that once one project is completed, the van conversion can be easily and at minimal cost altered to fulfil a different role within the community.

Welfare vehicles vans

We have created and transformed many vans into state-of-the-art welfare vans, especially for utility companies and those whose personnel are working off-grid. Required features vary, so we custom-build each conversion, which will normally feature a table with seating, a small galley with microwave, fridge, sink with hot and cold-water supply, storage facility and one or even two chemical toilet cubicles accessed via the rear doors.

Here we show a plain-looking van in dark metallic colour on an off-road track in the Scottish Highlands. The van is an MAN with off-road capability. This converted van actually contains a full photography studio, along with living accommodation and was built for a lanscape photographer.

Camper vans and day van conversions

Many people need a van to be converted into, but not a traditional camper van, requiring it more for their business rather than leisure. For example, recent conversions have included one for a commercial landscape photographer who briefed us to supply a mobile photographic studio combined with living accommodation that could operate off-road in some wild countryside. Another has been a musician who needed a converted van with space available for playing various instruments, a workplace for composing music, and living accommodation to minimise the cost of hotels and provide greater convenience with musical events lasting late into the night.

Security and cash in transit converted vans

MVTech are the UK’s leading converter for cash-in-transit vehicles and similar vehicles requiring a high level of security and safety features for those on board. All such converted vans are subject to strict confidentiality. Our clients can trust our experience in this field of van conversions, where our ISO accreditation and Cyber Security status ensure quality, privacy, and security.

Our specialist ANIMEDIX Veterinary Vehicle Division produces a range of bespoke converted vans into mobile veterinary surgeries, dog vans, animal ambulances, and pet transporters. The mobile surgeries are fully equipped to enable vets to undertake operations and treatments where their patients live, avoiding the stress of transportation to a permanent building.

Catering van conversions

Our custom-built converted vans created for the preparation and sale of street food are designed to look attractive even before customers are close enough to read the menu board, whilst inside, we use every inch of space to provide a comfortable and practical working space.

We install quality catering equipment to minimise unnecessary maintenance and provide optional extras, which can enhance your van conversion, including illuminated signboards, menu boards, awnings, and vehicle graphics.
